Welcome Letter

Dear Whitehall Family,

The Whitehall PTA would like to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year at Whitehall Elementary School! While this year promises to be unique in so many new ways, we as a parent body strive to support our school now more than ever. The PTA can serve as a vital link between parents and teachers, parents and administration, and bring us all closer together as a community.

We as a PTA are searching for ways to unite our community, even as we are distanced physically from each other. Creativity and flexibility will be the cornerstones upon which all PTA activity this year is built. This school year holds unique challenges for individuals, families, teachers, and our school system as a whole. We strive to be the most inclusive and supportive community possible, where everyone can feel welcome and able to contribute. Everyone’s participation will be different and equally necessary. We as a board are here to support you and find what works best for your schedule and skills. We have an assortment of committees from grant writing to room parents to environmental club! Many hands make light work and together we make Whitehall stronger.

This year more than ever we need family participation in order for the PGCPS distance learning model to be successful. Joining the PTA is an important step in the school engagement process. Research indicates that parent involvement in schools is a key indicator in student success. Our school and our teachers, indeed all of us, are entering uncharted territory with opening a school year in distance learning. Our teachers and staff will face challenges and obstacles never before encountered in public education, and our goal as an organization is to provide as much support as possible in this unprecedented situation.

We have an ambitious goal of achieving 100% participation from our school in PTA. PTA is most effective when we have everyone involved. If only half our community is receiving PTA communication, it’s a loss for the entire community.

Our PTA has multiple channels of communication. Visit us at our updated website,, join our Facebook group at, and if you have
